We had 10 cars on our stand this year. Many thanks to Les Darcey, Kate Perrins, James Parker, Stuart Keeping, Malcolm Speirs, Tony Billingham, Bill Bell, Trevor Ripley, Don Read and British Motor Heritage for 621 AOK.
We thought this was one of the best shows at Gaydon for a while. Lots of very interesting cars to see including the 2nd built Cooper S, the oldest known Woody, Bob Harts Beach Car and many other lovely Minis.
Good to meet and chat to the various motoring journalists that came to see us including Jon Pressnell, Anders Ditlev Clausager and Quentin Willson. Quentin is actually in the process of restoring a 1959 Mini.
Thanks to everyone who came to look at our stand.. It was good to see you all. It seems the interest in these early cars grows and grows.

I attended the show with 7VME, although the weather was dreadful a good attendance by mini enthusiasts and lots of Mini Coopers from all over Europe made up for the weather.
Pride of place in the main arena went to the motor museum owned single seat racing car developed by John Cooper, it was built prior to Mk 1 Minis. Sharing the front of house show spot next to it was, 7 VME a 1959 Austin Mini from the 59 register which helped to demonstrate early Mk 1 Mini development.
It was these early Mk1s that led to the construction of the Mini Coopers, these eventually being so successful as racing cars and Monte Carlo rally winning Minis.
John Cooper recognised a good car when he found one, bit like us on the 59 register!!!

We had four cars on the stand at Standford Hall from Kate, James, Trevor and Colin Harrison. Simon Drew also had his 59 there but in the concours section. Very good day with good weather too.
Lots of autojumble as usual but the early stuff availability seems to be getting less. And hence more expensive.

We had four cars on the stand this year. Kate Perrins, James Parker, Bob Jenkinson and Trevor Ripley all brought their cars along.
Although only the 2nd time the British Mini Club has used this venue it was quite a busy day.

We had 5 cars on the stand at Himley Hall this year and were allocated a nice spot by the lake along with the Moke Club and the Woody and Van display.
Although it rained the day day before, Sunday turned out to be a lovely sunny day and there was an excellent turnout at the show including some very nice Woodys and Vans.

There was even one of the E-Types used in the Italian Job.
This is the only surviving vehicle used in the film. Needless to say it has been repaired after been used in the film shoot. It is actually the 12th RHD roadster to be built.

Set up day on Saturday went fine but on Sunday morning woke up to snow everywhere.
Dave Hollis was panicking at first but people kept arriving and it turned out to be a total success.

Kate Perrins and James Parker represented the 1959 Mini Register with VBE 44 and flew the flag.
Good news from them is that they have got engaged.

CONGRATULATIONS.

I took an early Van and Woody instead of the 59's for a change.
Got them there on Saturday O.K. but couldn't get them back on Sunday as we were snowed in at home. Had to leave them at Bingley Hall for a couple of days for the snow to melt.
Anyway they are back safely at home now.

We had two 1959 cars on display at the NEC this year.
Kate Perrins had her Clipper Blue Morris, 316 GHW on the Mini Cooper Register stand and Trevor Ripley had his Tartan Red Austin, VCE 7 on the British Mini Club stand.
It worked out very well as both stands were next to each other. As usual the show was very interesting with some very unusual exhibits.
The Citroen stand in particular was fascinating with several prototypes on show.

Trevor Ripley and Keith Woodfield flew the flag at Malvern Mini Show. Despite the lovely weather we had, which is pretty unusual for Malvern, it seemed to be poorly attended however Mr.Bean was there, although he didn’t look very happy. Some people were starting to pack up at lunch time, including a lot of the traders. We left at about 2.00 pm.

William Fairney, Dave Sparks, and Chris Stratton flew the flag for the 1959 Mini Register at Castle Combe this year.
They put on a real good show and led the parade lap around the circuit.

Our stand was in a good position next to the Mini World stand in the middle of the show area. We had 9 cars turn up on the day which made a nice display. Usual good interest in the cars. Someone showed us pictures of a 59 car he saw in Cyprus last week. He is intending to buy it and ship it back. Lets hope it all works out for him.

This was a new venue for British Mini Club at Uttoxeter racecourse. It proved to be a very successful day with The 59 Register having 10 cars on our stand, including 2 new additions that we has not seen before. ( Thanks to Bob and James).
During the day we had Peter Tothill, who was heavily involved with producing the first ever Mini at Cowley, giving a talk on the early design and production days and an insight into the work of Alec Issigonnis. As usual we had a lot of interest in the early cars, some of which are now over 50 years old.

We had a joint stand with the Mini Cooper Register at Oulton Park Gold Cup event on Sunday 30th August.

A great day out with plenty of historic racing to watch.
With it being the 50th anniversary of the Mini there was a parade of all Minis around the circuit.
There were approx 180 cars taking part.

British Motor Heritage Centre, Gaydon.

We were invited to set up a display of 1959 cars in the museum as part of their Mini Festival on August 11th and 12th.
We had 7 cars on display on the upper gallery.
There were various lectures throughout the day about the history of the Mini and Alec Issigonnis.
We met some very interesting people over the 2 days including Paddy Hopkirk, Peter Tothill and Roy Davies.
We also had another visit from Kazuo Maruyama from Japan who we previously met at the IMM. A very interesting man to talk to.

We had a long discussion with Peter and Roy who were both highly involved with Alec Issigonnis at the beginning of the Mini conception.
Some very interesting things came to light regarding the first initial built production cars.

IMM 2009, Cofton Park, Longbridge, Birmingham.

We arrived at Cofton Park on Friday 7th to set up our stand. The weather had been terrible all week and it was looking like it was going to be a wash out.
When we arrived a lot of the ground was awful, mud and water everywhere. Vehicles were getting stuck in the mud with many having to towed in. A lot of the ground was water logged and it became a bit of a free for all to find a suitable place to set up. The pre-arranged plans seem to be abandoned.
Luckily we were allowed to set up our stand at the edge of the concurs area which was relatively dry for which we are extremely grateful. ( Thanks Kate ).

As we got the stand sorted out several 59 cars appeared from our overseas friends who had already arrived to camp. As the day passed the sun came out and gradually the ground started to show signs of drying up a bit. The weather forecast for the weekend was promising so things were looking good.

We arrived early on the Saturday morning and although the entrances were still a bit muddy the rest of the cars started to arrive. In total we had 27 cars on the stand from as far a field as Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Holland as well as U.K. cars from Scotland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and everywhere in between.
As the weekend progressed the weather just got better and better. It is reckoned over 5000 minis in total attended the event. There were so many interesting cars to see. We met so many interesting people from all over the world and had several cars added to the register.

We would like to thank all the people who brought their 1959 built cars along to make what was the biggest display of these cars that we have had.

We had pride of position at the Gaydon Mini Festival by the entrance to the museum. A brilliant turnout of some very interesting 1959 Minis were on hand for the many visitors to enjoy. Thanks once again to all who brought their cars, some driving great distances.
